The FRIENDS of Blakesburg Historical Preservation Society is a nationwide support group of individuals and households who are passionate about the advancement and preservation of small town rural America. For decades, the history of our way of life was neglected in state and national accounts, at risk of being forgotten.

FRIENDS are more than donors - they are part of the process of keeping our history alive. They are people who believe in us, our work, and the importance of rural America. Some of our FRIENDS have direct family ties to Blakesburg but many are simply passionate about the preservation of history on a local level. Joining is simple: an annual donation of $20 for an individual or $35 for a household. There’s no voting, no membership, no meetings - just the small annual donation is your commitment to being a FRIEND.

…help maintain and preserve the Blakesburg Community Museum and the historic 1892 Abernathy Home for future generations.

You’ll receive our newsletter in March the “old-fashioned” way - in print and mailed - for your reading enjoyment! The newsletter includes unique stories, special artifacts, progress updates on preservation projects, and a review of the previous years’ activities, events, and educational programs.

This is our special way of bringing the Blakesburg Historical Preservation Society directly to you!
Throughout the year, we promote exclusive offers to the FRIENDS of BHPS. It might be a drawing, a free meal, a preview of an upcoming event, or a special open house.

You will receive a 10% discount on all merchandise when you visit the Abernathy House or the Blakesburg Community Museum.
