What is an endowment fund?
The Blakesburg Historical Preservation Society Endowment Fund is a permanently restricted fund established to support the long-term mission and financial sustainability of the Blakesburg Historical Preservation Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions to the Endowment Fund are invested in accordance with the Society’s investment policies.
Only a portion of the earnings generated by the Endowment Fund may be expended, as determined by the Board of Directors and in compliance with applicable federal and state laws, while the principal remains intact in perpetuity. Endowment distributions are used to support the preservation and maintenance of the Society’s historic properties, including the Blakesburg Community Museum and the 1892 Abernathy House, as well as collections care, educational programming, and general operational support consistent with BHPS’s charitable purpose.
Gifts to the Endowment Fund may be made in honor or memory of an individual or family, or as part of a planned or legacy gift. Such contributions create a lasting charitable impact by supporting the Society’s mission beyond the lifetime of the donor.
