Hoops For History - Free Throw Contest
Basketball Fun Night | Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Jr./Sr. High School
The Blakesburg Historical Preservation Society (BHPS) is partnering with EBF Schools during their Basketball Fun Night to host our annual “Hoops for History” Free Throw Contest. New this year: the contest now includes 1st and 2nd graders, making it open to all students in grades 1–12. Adults are also invited to participate in the Master’s Division.
Shooting Distances
Grades 1–4: 12-foot line (volleyball line)
Grades 5–12 & Master’s Division: 15-foot line
Entry Fees & Format
Grades 1–6:
One event of 15 free throws – $5
Grades 7–12 & Master’s Division:
One event of 15 free throws – $10
Participants may enter as many times as they wish. Each individual’s official score will be the highest number of free throws made in a single event. Tie-breaking rules will be posted at the event.
Shooting begins at 5:00 PM with preference given to younger students early in the evening. All shooting ends at 8:15 PM.
Awards will be presented during halftime of the Fun Night’s Seniors vs. Teachers 6-on-6 game. Awards will be given to one girl and one boy in each grade level (Grades 1–8) and in the Varsity Division. The overall winner of the Master’s Division will also receive an award.
The Varsity Division “Braggin’ Rights” winner (girls vs. boys) will be recorded on the Hoops for History perpetual plaque.
